WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) \u2014 Top Republicans on the U.S. House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency are seeking information from Planned Parenthood affiliates around the country on the abortion giant\u2019s abortion practices and work \u201ctransitioning\u201d gender-confused children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Daily Signal reported<\/a> that the committee chairman, Republican Reps. Tim Burchett of Tennessee and Andy Biggs of Arizona, wrote<\/a> to 11 Planned Parenthood affiliates on May 15 to follow up on failure to produce \u201cdocuments and communications\u201d pertaining to \u201cthe increased provision of abortion services and the provision of gender-affirming care services to minors without parental consent\u201d that the committee first requested on June 13, 2025, almost a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlanned Parenthood received nearly $800 million in federal funds in fiscal year (FY) 20232 and is the second largest provider of gender hormone therapies in the United States,\u201d it says. \u201cSubcommittee is concerned that Planned Parenthood and its affiliates (\u2026) may be commingling federal funds and using them for unpermitted purposes. It is imperative that federal funds provided to Planned Parenthood via Title X of the Public Health Service Act (Title X), Medicaid, and the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are administered in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lawmakers demand the affiliates produce all \u201cnon-public financial statements and annual reports;\u201d \u201cdocuments and communications related to \u2026 formation and structure;\u201d a \u201clist of all independent ancillary or other related organizations supported by or under (their) control;\u201d \u201cpolicies and procedures for complying with state and federal laws and regulations regarding gender affirming care and parental consent;\u201d \u201cinformed consent documentation provided to patients, parents, or guardians related to abortion or gender affirming care services;\u201d \u201cpolicies, procedures, or guidelines for compliance with the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act and compliance with the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act;\u201d \u201cpolicies, procedures, or guidelines for abortions performed on viable or periviable fetuses;\u201d \u201cdocuments and communications related to \u2026 initial and continuing accreditation status;\u201d itemized totals of money received from \u201cfederal government programs, grants, or other sources of federal funds, including but not limited to Title X healthcare services;\u201d and a \u201clist of every healthcare service provided to patients \u2026 and the frequency with which those services are provided.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The material must cover January 1, 2020, to the present day, with a deadline for producing it by June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Planned Parenthood is best known as the nation\u2019s largest abortion chain, it is also deeply involved in the LGBT movement. It advertises itself<\/a> as a \u201csafe and welcoming place to get transgender\/nonbinary hormone therapy (sic),\u201d including estrogen, anti-androgen, testosterone, and puberty blockers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of the abortion giant\u2019s\u00a02022-2023 annual report<\/a>, 45 of its affiliates offered so-called \u201cgender-affirming hormone therapy\u201d in 2022. Its\u00a0previous report<\/a>\u00a0said 30 affiliates participated in 69 medical studies, an unspecified number of which involved so-called \u201ccare\u201d to reinforce gender dysphoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the latest on that aspect of the business was obscured in Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a02024-2025 annual report<\/a>, which highlighted work on a study it says will detail the \u201charm\u201d of \u201cstate-based restrictions on gender-affirming care\u201d but downplayed its own involvement in that \u201ccare,\u201d listing only a small footnote that \u201ctransgender services\u201d were among the various items included in its 50,411 \u201cOther Procedures.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\u00a0large body of evidence<\/a>\u00a0shows that \u201caffirming\u201d gender confusion carries serious harms, especially when done with impressionable children who lack the mental development, emotional maturity, and life experience to consider the long-term ramifications of the decisions being pushed on them, or full knowledge about the long-term effects of life-altering, physically-transformative, and often-irreversible surgical and chemical procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, National Health Service (NHS) England\u2019s landmark Cass Review<\/a> found that \u201cgender medicine\u201d is \u201cbuilt on shaky foundations\u201d and that while such interventions require a great deal of caution, \u201cquite the reverse happened in the field of (so-called) gender care for children,\u201d and that \u201c(w)hile a considerable amount of research has been published in this field, systematic evidence reviews demonstrated the poor quality of the published studies, meaning there is not a reliable evidence base upon which to make clinical decisions, or for children and their families to make informed choices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, a study of \u201call under-23-year-old gender-referred individuals between 1996 and 2019\u201d in Finland (2,083 people)\u00a0found<\/a>\u00a0that those who had gone through gender transitions had \u201cmarkedly higher psychiatric morbidity (other mental health issues) than controls before and after referral, with treatment needs often persisting and even intensifying after medical interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many<\/a>\u00a0oft-ignored\u00a0detransitioners<\/a>, individuals who attempted transitioning before regretting it and returning to life as their true sex, attest to the physical and mental\u00a0harm<\/a>\u00a0of reinforcing gender confusion, as well as to the bias and negligence of the medical establishment on the subject, many of whom take an activist approach to their profession and begin cases with a predetermined conclusion that \u201ctransitioning\u201d is the best solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGender-affirming\u201d physicians have also been caught on video admitting to more old-fashioned motives for such procedures, as with an\u00a02022 expos\u00e9<\/a>\u00a0about Vanderbilt University Medical Center\u2019s Clinic for Transgender Health, where Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor said outright that \u201cthese surgeries make a lot of money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
