A coalition of 60 pro-life organizations across the U.S. have signed a letter urging Congress to extend a moratorium \u2014 set to expire at the beginning of July \u2014 that protects taxpayer funds from being used for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an emailed press release, Christus Medicus Foundation (CMF) said that it and the other organizations are asking Congress to uphold its \u201cmoral, ethical, and fiscal obligation\u201d to extend the moratorium, which went into effect last summer as a provision of the \u201cBig Beautiful Bill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe principles of justice and human dignity obligate Congress to stop sending hundreds of millions of dollars to an abortion industry that destroys unborn life and victimizes pregnant mothers,\u201d CMF stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization pointed to the Hyde Amendment, which has for decades banned taxpayer funds from paying for abortions and called for the idea behind the amendment to be \u201cbroadened to ensure that no federal tax dollars go to any organization or entity that kills unborn children and harms pregnant mothers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the letter asking for an extension on the moratorium, CMF has urged Congress to permanently ban taxpayer funding of abortions, renewing its calls especially as the U.S. approaches its 250th anniversary this July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CMF stated, \u201cDefunding the abortion industry will protect the life of thousands of unborn children, protect mothers and families, and help begin a new era in the United States as we begin our next 250 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
