Despite a partisan regulatory battle over the issue, one that spanned the Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations, the NIH ultimately poured millions of Americans\u2019 hard-earned dollars into experiments on human fetal tissue obtained from elective abortions&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/gpr\/2016\/fetal-tissue-research-weapon-and-casualty-war-against-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">over a period that spans roughly 75 years<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lifelegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Select_Investigative_Panel_Final_Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Opposition to such experiments<\/a>&nbsp;appeared to pick up momentum after Center for Medical Progress (CMP) undercover journalist David Daleiden recorded footage in 2015 showing Planned Parenthood staff discussing the process of harvesting aborted baby parts to traffic them. Clips of the footage, which then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris withheld from the public until a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/09\/pull-off-a-leg-or-two-planned-parenthood-staff-discuss-harvesting-baby-parts-in-unsealed-footage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">congressional subpoena in 2024<\/a>, depict individuals identified as Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ann Schutt-Ain\u00e9 and Vice President of Abortion Access Tram Nguyen discussing the sale of fetal body parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">California officially ended its years-long political prosecution of Daleiden and his partner for filming the interaction&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/29\/california-finally-ends-political-prosecution-of-journalists-who-uncovered-aborted-baby-parts-trafficking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last year<\/a>. Yet the federal government, even after the release of Daleiden\u2019s footage and the exposure of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/27\/pitts-official-assessment-tries-to-explain-away-their-unethical-experiments-with-aborted-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">barbaric experiments on aborted babies by the University of Pittsburgh<\/a>, continued to allow the purchase of baby body parts with Americans\u2019 hard-earned dollars in the name of science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In fact, under the Biden administration, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/24\/after-shocking-revelations-about-brutalized-dead-babies-biden-administration-to-shut-down-fetal-harvesting-probe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;halted the NIH ethics board<\/a>&nbsp;assigned to oversee human fetal tissue research.&nbsp;At the bidding of President Joe Biden,&nbsp;HHS also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/biden-administration-removes-trump-era-restrictions-on-fetal-tissue-research\/2021\/04\/16\/71719006-9ed2-11eb-8005-bffc3a39f6d3_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reversed<\/a>&nbsp;a first-term Trump administration rule that banned government employees from using tax dollars to buy human fetal tissue used in studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The NIH claims research involving aborted baby body parts has \u201cdeclined steadily since 2019\u201d but still accounted for 77 taxpayer-funded projects in the 2024 fiscal year.
