One Big Beautiful Bill: A Bold Strike Against Big Abortion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The One Big Beautiful Bill defunded Planned Parenthood for one year, a move passed by Congress and signed by President Trump, marking a major pro-life victory. Though the battle plays out like a political ping pong match, at its heart are the lives of unborn babies and the souls of their mothers.<\/em>
And of course, there is now a lawsuit.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a historic win for the pro-life movement, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB)<\/a> on May 22, marking the strongest legislative move in years against the abortion industry. The original House version included a bold 10-year ban on federal funding for entities that provide abortions<\/a>, a sweeping blow aimed squarely at Planned Parenthood and similar organizations. Although the Senate narrowed the provision to just one year<\/a>, the bill passed on July 3, and President Donald J. Trump signed OBBB into law on July 4, declaring it a “victory for life and the American taxpayer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsurprisingly, just yesterday, Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit<\/a> (Planned Parenthood v Kennedy)(go figure!?) in a federal court in Boston on Monday. In a discouraging but expected move, an Obama-appointed judge U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani<\/a>,<\/a> <\/strong>ruled the same day that the defunding was unlawful, temporarily blocking the measure and giving the pro-life legal team until July 14<\/strong> to respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting in an article in the NationalReview.com<\/a>, Dan McLaughlin shared, “A single federal judge is ordering that public monies be spent after the Congress of the United States specifically passed a law declining to spend them. You can\u2019t argue with the judge\u2019s reasoning, because there isn\u2019t any; the case was only filed today, and the order is not accompanied by an opinion. It\u2019s just a raw exercise of power.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Through the OBBB, Planned Parenthood is set to lose $500 million in annual taxpayer funding\u2014money that has long propped up the nation\u2019s largest abortion provider. This couldn\u2019t come at a more crucial time: Planned Parenthood\u2019s own reports show they performed a record number of abortions in the past fiscal year,<\/a> further exposing their priority of profits over people. While many pro-lifers were hoping for a decade-long funding cut, the one-year defunding is being hailed as “cutting off the head of the snake”<\/strong>\u2014a strategic first blow in a larger battle for life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our friends at LIVEACTION.com<\/a> shared, \u201cDespite its claims, Planned Parenthood is not a legitimate health care provider upon which Americans rely. Planned Parenthood only serves an estimated 2%<\/a> of American women of reproductive age \u2014 and according to its own annual reports<\/a>, the few legitimate health care services it provides have plummeted<\/a> over the years, while abortions have soared to record highs<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planned Parenthood is vastly outnumbered<\/a> by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and other nonprofit clinics. In 2023 alone, FQHCs operated over 15,000 locations, while Planned Parenthood had just 600 nationwide. Not only do FQHCs offer far more access, but they also serve significantly more patients, providing services like cancer screenings, prenatal care, and primary health\u2014without ending the lives of the preborn. In Cincinnati<\/strong>, for example, there are 75 FQHCs<\/a> that do not commit abortions. Women have real, life-affirming options\u2014and they don\u2019t have to turn to Planned Parenthood to get the care they need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the lawsuit, Cincinnati Right to Life remains as boldly committed as ever. “This is just the beginning. For the first time in decades, we’ve taken direct aim at the abortion industry\u2019s bank account\u2014and hit the target,\u201d <\/strong>shared Laura Strietmann, Executive Director.<\/p>\n\n\n

Planned Parenthood brutally ends the lives of nearly 2,000 babies in Cincinnati every year, tens of thousands in Ohio, and 400,000 nationwide. (These numbers are from 2023, before abortion was enshrined in Ohio’s Constitution. The abortion rate is tragically much worse now.) Its powerful political machine also funnels millions of dollars into the<\/a> campaigns of pro-abortion candidates, securing unwavering loyalty from all they financially support. The pro-life community in Ohio supports candidates that are committed to ending the “Reign of Planned Parenthood.” We again thank both of our Ohio US Senators and our OH Congressmen that are committed to ending the federal funding of abortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mothers and their preborn children deserve our unwavering love, support, and protection\u2014not the false promise of abortion sold by America\u2019s abortion giant. Planned Parenthood exploits vulnerable women, ending the lives of hundreds of thousands of American babies each year while billing Medicaid and draining taxpayer dollars to do it.
