This raises questions about the drug\u2019s potential endocrine-disrupting effects when present in drinking water supplies,\u201d said the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lankford.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/lankford-urges-epa-to-investigate-environmental-risks-of-abortion-drug-mifepristone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a>, led by Senator James Lankford and Rep. Josh Brecheen (both R-Okla.). \u201cIf residual amounts of the drug and its metabolites persist in wastewater, prolonged exposure could potentially interfere with a person\u2019s fertility, regardless of sex.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAs gross as it sounds, much of our sewage water ends up being filtered\u201d through waste water treatment plants and becomes \u201cdrinking water downstream. But that process doesn\u2019t take out everything,\u201d Lankford\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/v6v9sxf-20250624-b-block-james-lankford.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0\u201cWashington Watch with Tony Perkins\u201d Tuesday. \u201cPFAS [per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances] \u2026 medications, or other chemicals are often still in the system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The EPA admitted last September that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www3.epa.gov\/npdes\/pubs\/primer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up to 10%<\/a>\u00a0of contaminants may survive two stages of waste water treatment. \u201cWhat happens when it gets recycled back into our drinking water? Does that affect future fertility? Can that cause miscarriages?\u201d asked Lankford. \u201cWe don\u2019t know because that\u2019s never been studied.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Instead, the Clinton administration\u2019s FDA issued a \u201cfinding of no significant impact\u201d (FONSI) in 2000, as it approved mifepristone for use, based on a Population Council assessment that too few women would use the drug to warrant study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Chemical abortion now accounts for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/2024\/03\/medication-abortion-accounted-63-all-us-abortions-2023-increase-53-2020#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20brick%2Dand%2D,they%20want%20to%20be%20served.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly two-thirds<\/a>\u00a0of all abortions, according to the Guttmacher Institute. It\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/commentary\/kamala-harriss-hypocrisy-on-women-having-miscarriages-in-toilets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">often takes place on the toilet<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cSit on the toilet,\u201d\u00a0Planned Parenthood advises women who have taken mifepristone on its website titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/the-abortion-pill\/how-does-the-abortion-pill-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How does the abortion pill work?<\/a>\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The abortion industry has known about the potentially traumatizing impact of a mother seeing her own aborted baby floating in a toilet for more than 30 years. A grieving post-abortive mother raised the psychological pain at the very first \u201cM&amp;M trials\u201d of the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol, which took place in Des Moines in 1994. \u201cI heard [my baby] fall into the toilet. &#8230; I cried when I knew it had passed,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/content.time.com\/time\/subscriber\/article\/0,33009,981918,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recalled<\/a>\u00a0\u201cPatient 001.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The abortion industry\u2019s biohazardous liability is not necessarily limited to chemical abortions. An employee at Dr. Emily\u2019s Women\u2019s Health Center in the Bronx told an undercover Live Action investigator, after a late term abortion, to sit on the toilet, and \u201cIf it [her late-term aborted baby] comes out, then it comes out.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/undercover-video-abortion-worker-tells-woman-to-flush-baby-down-toilet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flush it<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Sanitation officials have found fully formed fetuses inside waste water facilities in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/16fb077a579d483da1343bd547bb9f33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Carolina<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox19.com\/story\/34495350\/human-fetus-discovered-inside-cincinnati-wastewater-treatment-plant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ohio<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/story\/5e3490e2527dcf49dad7d914\/fetus-found-by-deer-creek-waste-water-treatment-facility-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oklahoma<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/16fb077a579d483da1343bd547bb9f33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mississippi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">John Stemberger, president of Liberty Counsel Action,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/v6v9trx-20250624-c-block-john-stemberger.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0\u201cWashington Watch\u201d an estimated \u201c40 tons of aborted babies\u2019 bodies\u201d become \u201cmedical waste \u2014 going into toilets, going into sewer systems, going into septic tanks, and ultimately going into the water systems that process our drinking water.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Stemberger\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lcaction.org\/abortioninourwater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coauthored<\/a>\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lcaction.org\/LCA-PDFs\/AbortionInOurWater-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">78-page report<\/a>\u00a0concluding, \u201cabortion providers issuing chemical abortion pills have been able to use wastewater treatment plants as their de-facto medical waste facilities for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The report contends that the use of chemical abortion violates the Clean Water Act and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Clean Water Act defines \u201cpollutant\u201d to include \u201cbiological materials\u201d and covers \u201cmedical waste,\u201d including \u201chuman blood and blood products; pathological wastes\u201d and \u201cbody parts.\u201d NEPA requires an environmental impact statement for any action that has a \u201creasonably foreseeable significant effect on the quality of the human environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2000, the lame duck Clinton administration\u2019s FDA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/postmarket-drug-safety-information-patients-and-providers\/questions-and-answers-mifepristone-medical-termination-pregnancy-through-ten-weeks-gestation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved<\/a>\u00a0mifepristone for the first seven weeks of pregnancy. It also required that trained medical personnel hold three in-person visits (to confirm pregnancy, to administer the drug, and to assure the mother\u2019s health after the abortion). The abortion industry flouted the guidelines and, in 2016, the Obama administration later legalized their practices:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/prolife-state-laws-critical-to-preventing-flood-of-abortion-pills-say-experts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extending mifepristone use to 10 weeks<\/a>, reducing three in-person visits to one, and absolving abortionists from reporting any adverse effects the pills had on women except for death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Biden-Harris administration removed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/shut-these-murderers-down-3-states-file-abortion-pill-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all in-person visits<\/a>\u00a0and certified\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/cvs-and-walgreens-plan-to-carry-abortion-pill-become-centers-of-death-prolife-advocates-say\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pharmacies to distribute the abortion pill<\/a>. Most controversially, Biden\u2019s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) issued\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/olc\/opinion\/file\/1560596\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an opinion<\/a>\u00a0on December 27, 2022, that pharmacies may mail or ship abortion pills to pro-life states\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/abortion-pill-expansion-put-womens-health-and-safety-last-researcher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">without violating<\/a>\u00a0The Comstock Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1461\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">18 U.S. Code \u00a7 1461<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1462\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1462<\/a>), which has long made it illegal to send any item facilitating abortion through the mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Stemberger says an environmental impact study should have been done before each proposed change. Instead, none have taken place to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">At a minimum, the report says, abortionists should send mothers home with a \u201ccatch kit,\u201d allowing them to properly dispose of human remains, because as human beings, the babies deserve the opportunity to be buried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life of America told The Washington Stand SFLA\u2019s letter echoed the concerns and thanked congressmen who \u201cdemand evaluation of the global consequences of the reckless deregulation and lack of testing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Observers say the last Democratic administration\u2019s desire to promote abortion pills at all costs has led to a Wild West atmosphere, compromising women\u2019s health and well-being alongside that of their babies. \u201cSixty-four percent of abortion clinics have gestational cut-off limits set between 11 and 13 weeks for abortion pills &#8230; beyond the FDA\u2019s limit of 10 weeks,\u201d found a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/2024-Survey-Report_FINAL_Online-Version.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0from Operation Rescue. The online abortion \u201cpill network is modeled after the drug cartel,\u201d found a separate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/bidenharris-admin-ignores-foreign-abortion-pill-drug-cartel-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0from the American Life League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAbortionists continue to exist as a privileged class of \u2018physicians\u2019 who cannot be touched,\u201d said Operation Rescue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But the Trump administration has sounded a more cautious note toward Planned Parenthood, which spent tens of millions of dollars to defeat him last November. This April, Trump committed to \u201cmaintaining the standards that have afforded Americans the cleanest air and water in the world for generations.\u201d A month later, President Trump signed an executive order restoring \u201cGold Standard Science.\u201d The Make America Healthy Again Commission likewise dedicated the Trump administration to \u201cfostering radical transparency and gold-standard science.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The MAHA report noted, \u201cEvidence shows industry studies are much more likely to report favorable outcomes, exaggerating benefits and underreporting harms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But the abortion industry and its political allies have tried to restrain any additional inquiries into its business practices. Congressional Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee attempted to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/what-are-they-afraid-of-house-democrats-try-to-kill-fda-investigation-of-abortion-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kill an amendment<\/a>\u00a0commending the FDA for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/fda-chief-committed-to-investigating-abortion-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reviewing the side effects<\/a>\u00a0of mifepristone on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe government studies everything.
