On Tuesday of this week, February 18, 2025,\u00a0heyjane.com<\/a>\u00a0launched their for-profit abortion pill business in Ohio. According to Alyssa Wagner, founding medical director of the Hey Jane business that annually denies life to thousands of pre-born babies, they began operations in 2021 after the FDA approved mailing abortion pills. They now operate their life-ending business in 21 states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ohio, telemed abortions are illegal as stated in\u00a0Ohio revised code<\/a>. According to 2919.124, (B) No physician shall personally furnish or otherwise provide an abortion-inducing drug to a pregnant woman unless the physician is physically present at the location where the initial dose of the drug or regimen of drugs is consumed at the time the initial dose is consumed. (C) No physician who personally furnishes or otherwise provides an abortion-inducing drug to another for the purpose of inducing an abortion shall knowingly fail to comply with division (B) of this section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the passage of Issue 1 in November of 2023, the pro-killing preborn child industry has been plowing through Ohio courts with lawsuit<\/a> upon lawsuit<\/a>, seeking to overturn laws that Cincinnati Right to Life and other pro-life organizations in the state wrote, passed, and advocated in favor of, for the last 50 years. These laws have saved countless Ohio lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the abortion statistics in Ohio are gruesome, reducing abortions in the state from a high of 46,000 in 1982, to under 25,000 preborn lives killed each year in Ohio since 2012, momentum was headed in the direction of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ohio’s law protecting women from the dangers of telemedicine abortions, conducted at home and without receiving an ultrasound, had been on hold under temporary order by Hamilton County Judge Alison Hatheway since 2021. In August of 2024 Judge Hatheway issued a preliminary injunction, extending the temporary injunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Charlotte Lozier Institute<\/a>, as many as 20 percent of the women who undergo chemical abortions suffer complications, four times that of surgical abortions, including a shocking number of deaths. Amber Thurman<\/a>, a Georgia mom expecting twins, traveled to North Carolina to obtain the deadly chemical abortion drugs. After suffering severe complications, this mother developed an infection and passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a statehouse news alert<\/a>, CRTL learned that Ohio Right to Life has filed a complaint with the Ohio Department of Health and the State Medical Board over the heyjane.com<\/a> website, saying it is violating state law. The Ohio Department of Health said in a written statement that it will promptly and thoroughly review the complaint and take action where appropriate. However, the department said, “After an initial review, it appears at least some elements of the complaint may fall outside the department\u2019s regulatory authority, in which case the department will share the complaint with the appropriate agency.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent interview with Fox News Laura Ingraham, newly appointed Director of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. confirmed that President Donald Trump has asked him to study the dangers of abortifacient drugs.  Planned Parenthood is unhappy about<\/a> the appointment of RFK Jr., who also said during the interview, \u201cDuring the Biden administration, the NIH did something that was inexcusable, which is to tell doctors and patients not to report injuries, and that\u2019s not a good policy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Supreme Court threw out a lawsuit<\/a> in June of 2024, that sought to roll back access to mifepristone, one of the two drugs used in medication abortions. In a unanimous decision, the court ruled that the doctors and medical groups challenging the expansion of access to the drug by the Food and Drug Administration in 2016 and 2021 lack a legal right to sue, known as standing. The justices did not reach the merits of the challenge \u2013 that is, they did not rule on whether the FDA acted properly in expanding access to mifepristone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported in the New York Times<\/a>, a lawsuit seeking to sharply restrict the abortion pill mifepristone has re-emerged in a version that presents new challenges for pro-abortion supporters and the federal government\u2019s ability to regulate abortion medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
