{"id":33364,"date":"2025-01-31T17:13:26","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/?p=33364"},"modified":"2025-01-31T17:13:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:13:26","slug":"young-voters-support-limits-on-abortion-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/young-voters-support-limits-on-abortion-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Voters Support Limits on Abortion:  Poll"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><em>By:  Sarah Holliday, originally <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/young-voters-support-limits-on-abortion-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">January 30, 2025, The Washington Stand<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Earlier this month, Students for Life of America released a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentsforlife.org\/2025\/01\/21\/abortion-wont-win-the-hearts-minds-of-now-almost-half-of-the-electorate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a>\u00a0that found a large portion of registered millennial and Gen Z voters are \u201cnot buying [what] the Democratic Party has been selling\u201d on abortion. As the report stated, \u201cMedia and politicians often claim that this critical demographic \u2026 are solidly on the side of abortion.\u201d However, \u201cthe facts tell a different, nuanced story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Of those polled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAlmost 7 in 10 support some limits on abortion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cMORE than 3 in 10 Youth Voters (31%)&nbsp;\u201cwould be MORE WILLING to accept limits\u201d if families got the help they need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201c6 in 10 said human rights begin while a child is still in the womb. Only 2% said rights begin when a court says so. ONLY 25% said human rights begin after birth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cLESS THAN 1 in 10 (9%) supported the Democratic Party Agenda of abortion without limits, through all 9 months, up to and including infanticide for a baby born during a botched abortion.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In addition to these numbers, the survey found less than half of these young voters (48.5%) support Planned Parenthood receiving tax money. In fact, the report emphasized that \u201cof those who had a baseline favorable view of&nbsp;Planned Parenthood, 30% view them less favorably after we showed them information on the nation\u2019s number one abortion vendor.&nbsp;Of those who had a neutral view of&nbsp;Planned Parenthood, 30% also view them less favorably after learning more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The results concluded that, regarding young voters and their views of abortion, \u201cpain matters,\u201d \u201cfertility matters,\u201d and \u201ca baby born during a botched abortion should receive help.\u201d As the report emphasized, on both surgical abortions and chemical abortions, \u201cyouth voters do stand on common ground in support for limits on abortion, in protection for women, in rejecting infanticide, in increases in support &amp; service, and in protecting the fertility of women and children, whether from harms of abortion or harms to minors from wrong sex hormones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, joined Family Research Council President Tony Perkins on Wednesday\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Py_olAOEJfk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Watch<\/a>\u201d to further unpack these results. \u201c[T]he poll counteracts \u2026 so much of what you hear in the legacy \u2018lamestream\u2019 media,\u201d Hawkins remarked. \u201cGen Z and Gen Y voters \u2026 [are] the largest demographic in our electorate, the least churched, the most liberal, [yet] almost seven in 10 support limits on abortion. That\u2019s something that you never hear, especially when you\u2019re on a college campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">She continued, \u201cEven young people themselves will think that the majority of young people are pro-abortion.\u201d But even the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which Democrats voted against in the Senate last week, is supported by roughly nine out of 10 young voters. \u201cNine out of 10,\u201d Hawkins reiterated. \u201cI mean, that just shows you how in bed the Democrats in Washington are with the abortion lobby because [their view] is unpopular.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Perkins agreed, adding that this poll doesn\u2019t merely highlight where young voters and Democrats are at odds, but it serves as a reminder of how \u201cthe Republicans need to be schooled a little bit on where the millennials and Gen Z stand on these issues.\u201d According to Perkins, there\u2019s a lot of talk from the Right about young people opposing conservative values. But \u201cyou know,\u201d he said, \u201cI don\u2019t see it. I actually see the young people who have been the victim of these policies in many ways \u2026 and I think we\u2019re selling them short when we look at these social policies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cYou\u2019re absolutely right,\u201d Hawkins replied. \u201c[T]hink about Planned Parenthood \u2026 the nation\u2019s largest abortion vendor who receives $700 million of our taxpayer dollars. Every time you see polling on Planned Parenthood, we are told in the pro-life movement that\u201d it\u2019s impossible to tell \u201cPlanned Parenthood to go get their own funding.\u201d As Hawkins put it, we\u2019re told \u201cthat their brand is untouchable. That is not the case.\u201d In fact, she pointed out, in addition to the 48% of young voters who opposed \u201cPlanned Parenthood receiving $700 million in taxpayer funds, 63% thought abortion should be prevented when a child feels pain at 12.5 weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThese are stats,\u201d Hawkins said. And \u201cyou never see [them] anywhere else. \u2026 Honest polling \u2026 that actually tells us where this generation is so we can figure out how do we get them where they need to be: fully with us [and] 100% pro-life.\u201d But the question remains: If the message has consistently been that young voters are significantly pro-abortion, then when did this shift occur? Perkins believes the 2024 election season may have played a role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">As he put it, \u201cI was of the persuasion that Kamala Harris\u2019s radical position on abortion\u201d may have \u201ceven turned some voters to being pro-life because it laid bare just how radical they were.\u201d Hawkins agreed. In fact, she explained how exposing the radical Democratic abortion agenda is where many people\u2019s minds are changed. \u201c[O]ften,\u201d she said, \u201cwhen having conversations with young voters, they actually do not believe that anybody would ever vote to allow a baby who is born alive during an abortion to die. It seems impossible to them.\u201d And yet, that is what happened when every Senate Democrat voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ultimately, Hawkins expressed optimism about the younger generations.
