{"id":33330,"date":"2025-01-28T16:01:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T16:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/?p=33330"},"modified":"2025-01-28T16:01:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T16:01:44","slug":"trump-erases-bidens-attempt-to-force-unpopular-taxpayer-funded-abortion-on-americans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/trump-erases-bidens-attempt-to-force-unpopular-taxpayer-funded-abortion-on-americans\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Erases Biden&#8217;s Attempt To Force Unpopular Taxpayer-Funded Abortion On Americans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><em>By:  Jordan Boyd, originally published <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/27\/trump-erases-bidens-attempt-to-force-unpopular-taxpayer-funded-abortion-on-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">January 27, 2025, The Federalist<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Americans who overwhelmingly oppose taxpayer-funded abortions will no longer be forced to pay for overseas baby-killing after President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating prohibitions on the unpopular practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/memorandum-for-the-secretary-of-state-the-secretary-of-defense-the-secretary-of-health-and-human-services-the-administrator-of-the-united-states-for-international-development\/#:~:text=I%20hereby%20revoke%20the%20Presidential,and%20Abroad)%2C%20and%20reinstate%20the\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a January 24 memorandum<\/a>, Trump ordered the secretary of state, the secretary of defense, the secretary of health and human services, and the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development to immediately cease by reinstating the Mexico City policy first implemented by President Ronald Reagan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">When properly enforced, the memo ensures&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/planned-parenthood-received-millions-of-dollars-after-lobbying-state-department-parterning-with-clinton-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">millions<\/a>&nbsp;of Americans\u2019 hard-earned dollars will not be funneled, in the form of U.S. foreign aid, to organizations that lobby for, perform, or encourage abortions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Trump initially adopted the global gag rule during his first administration, but former President Joe Biden reversed it mere days into his White House tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In the wake of the Supreme Court\u2019s 2022\u00a0<em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em>\u00a0decision, Biden also took aim at the Hyde Amendment throughout his administration including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2022\/07\/13\/2022-15138\/protecting-access-to-reproductive-healthcare-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ordering<\/a>\u00a0his secretary of health and human services to \u201cprotect and expand access to abortion\u201d including the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/04\/scientists-sue-over-discriminatory-retraction-of-studies-exposing-abortion-pill-dangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dangerous and sometimes fatal<\/a>\u00a0drug regimen responsible for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/article\/2022\/02\/medication-abortion-now-accounts-more-half-all-us-abortions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most of the nation\u2019s abortions.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">On the same day Trump published his intent to restore the Mexico City Policy, however, the Republican also issued an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/enforcing-the-hyde-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">executive order<\/a>&nbsp;affirming the Hyde Amendment and signaling an \u201cend the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.\u201d The executive order directly rebuked the Biden administration for doing away with \u201cthis established, commonsense policy by embedding forced taxpayer funding of elective abortions in a wide variety of Federal programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A majority of Americans,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kofc.org\/en\/resources\/communications\/polls\/2025-kofc-marist-poll-results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">57 percent<\/a>, oppose or strongly oppose using tax dollars to pay for abortions on U.S. soil, according to a recent Marist Poll. That number jumps to 73 percent when the tax dollars are designated for abortions abroad and is six percentage points higher than the opposition measured in January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Trump\u2019s week-one directives not only bring the country into further alignment with the public\u2019s disapproval of taxpayer-funded abortion, but signal the Republican administration\u2019s openness to other protections for women, babies, and Americans\u2019 pocketbooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cGovernment-compelled participation in abortion has no place in our country.
