And while much of what they will target for elimination remains a mystery, the shrink-the-government brigade has openly taken up a longstanding battle cry of social conservatives: defunding Planned Parenthood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It continued, \u201cElon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-leaders of the vaguely defined \u2018Department of Government Efficiency [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/musk-ramaswamy-defunding-planned-parenthood-trump\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DOGE<\/a>]\u2019 that will be recommending cuts to the Trump administration,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/opinion\/musk-and-ramaswamy-the-doge-plan-to-reform-government-supreme-court-guidance-end-executive-power-grab-fa51c020?st=9M7A13&amp;reflink=article_imessage_share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote in a November op-ed<\/a>&nbsp;that they will \u2018help end federal overspending by taking aim at\u2019 an array of programs, and specifically called out \u2018nearly $300 million [going] to progressive groups like Planned Parenthood.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cBut the last time there was a concerted push on Capitol Hill to strip funding from Planned Parenthood,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/114th-congress-2015-2016\/costestimate\/ltrpermanentdefundplannedparenthood.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Congressional Budget Office [CBO] calculated<\/a>&nbsp;that doing so would actually cost the government more than it saved \u2014 $130 million over 10 years to be exact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Note that the CBO report is dated September 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cCBO found that eliminating the taxpayer dollars the group receives through Medicaid, the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program and the Title X family planning program \u2014 none of which can be used for abortions under longstanding federal law \u2014 would save about $520 million over a decade, but cost about $650 million,\u201d Politico Nightly said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThat\u2019s because \u2018as much as 25 percent of the estimated 2.6 million clients served by Planned Parenthood would face reduced access to care,\u2019 the nonpartisan office said, particularly \u2018services that help women avert pregnancies,\u2019 meaning \u2018the number of births in the Medicaid program would increase by several thousand per year,&#8217;\u201d they claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">And here is the kicker, that the report allegedly pointed to (emphases added):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cEssentially,&nbsp;<em><strong>subsidizing birth control is far cheaper than subsidizing births<\/strong><\/em>, so the cost of funding Planned Parenthood would be passed on \u2014 and surpassed \u2014 by the increased cost of funding Medicaid. CBO found that the Planned Parenthood patients who would be most affected by the cuts \u2018reside in areas without access to other health care clinics or medical practitioners who serve&nbsp;<strong><em>low-income populations<\/em><\/strong>,&#8217;\u201d Politico Nightly shamefully added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">CBO may have claimed that Planned Parenthood boasted 2.6 million clients in 2015 but its annual report showed far less. And, as Live Action News has documented year after year, clients, facilities, and services have decreased at the abortion corporation, while abortion, taxpayer funding, and \u201cprofit\u201d have skyrocketed.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/politico-nightly\/2024\/12\/16\/the-doge-plan-that-could-cost-millions-00194637\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"582\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Politico-X.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33093\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Politico-X.jpg 582w, https:\/\/cincinnatirighttolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Politico-X-256x300.jpg 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>What the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) found<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">On September 16, 2015, in response to proposed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/50825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBO<\/a>&nbsp;analysis found that Planned Parenthood received approximately $450 million annually in&nbsp;<strong><u>federal<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;funding alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">CBO broke the estimated $450 million in federal funding down to two main sources \u2014 Medicaid and Title X:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">$390 million is provided to Planned Parenthood through the Medicaid program and less than $1 million is provided through the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program and the Medicare program combined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Approximately $60 million is provided through the National Family Planning Program, which operates under Title X of the Public Health Service Act (commonly referred to as Title X).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Interestingly, as Live Action News&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-60m-battle-defund\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously reported<\/a>, the 2015 CBO analysis stated, \u201cCBO estimates that the bill would not affect spending subject to appropriations because any discretionary grants, such as those made under Title X, that might otherwise have gone to Planned Parenthood would be awarded to other health clinics or medical practitioners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/114th-congress-2015-2016\/costestimate\/ltrpermanentdefundplannedparenthood.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">September 22, 2015, CBO analysis<\/a>&nbsp;made at the request of the House Majority Leader at the time \u201cestimated the effect on direct spending of legislation that would permanently prohibit Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">That report assessed that \u201cimplementing such a bill would increase direct spending by $130 million over the 2016-2025 period. The difference in the estimated costs reflects the different time periods over which use of federal funds would be prohibited.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Despite claims made by pro-abortion media allies of Planned Parenthood, the CBO\u2019s assessment of potential cost increases was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/114th-congress-2015-2016\/costestimate\/ltrpermanentdefundplannedparenthood.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">caveated<\/a>&nbsp;by writing, \u201cUnder both policies the effects of the legislation on federal spending are highly uncertain and would depend largely on the extent to which individuals who otherwise would obtain Medicaid-funded services from Planned Parenthood would either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Continue to obtain services from Planned Parenthood without Medicaid reimbursement;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Obtain services from other health clinics and medical practitioners that receive Medicaid reimbursement; or,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">No longer obtain such services.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In addition to the CBO report, a&nbsp;2015 House Committee on Oversight and Accountability&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/hearing-wrap-planned-parenthoods-taxpayer-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a>&nbsp;that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Planned Parenthood does not need federal subsidies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A significant number of Planned Parenthood executives earn in excess of $200,000 annually<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Planned Parenthood spends millions on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GL0HqMYPSzg&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=5m8s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">travel, galas, and real estate<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Taxpayer dollars subsidize Planned Parenthood\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aSMWyAwWTro&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=1m41s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">political affiliates.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Numerous&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vIokTvy7iEM&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=4m48s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alternatives<\/a>&nbsp;to Planned Parenthood exist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Women have alternatives&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The media report claimed that if Planned Parenthood were somehow defunded, women, many of whom would be considered low-income, would have few alternatives. However, the CBO analysis was clear that the number of low-income women was \u2018uncertain,\u2019 writing that \u201c[t]he people most likely to experience reduced access to care would probably reside in areas without access to other health care clinics or medical practitioners who serve low-income populations. However, how many Medicaid beneficiaries served by Planned Parenthood live in such areas is uncertain,\u201d the CBO wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The fact is that Federally Qualified Health Centers (<a href=\"https:\/\/bphc.hrsa.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/bphc\/about\/health-center-program-history-full-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FQHCs<\/a>) offer multiple services for both men and women while remaining free of the controversy of abortion. In addition, while FQHC location sites and patients served have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/3-women-reproductive-age-planned-parenthood\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">increased<\/a>&nbsp;over the years, Planned Parenthood\u2019s clients and essential health services have essentially decreased, with the exception of abortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015-16 annual report<\/a>, Planned Parenthood claimed, \u201cWhen extreme politicians vow to \u2018defund\u2019 Planned Parenthood, they are talking about cutting off at least 1.5 million Planned Parenthood patients who rely on these programs to access preventive care from their provider of choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIn 2015, 2.4 million people relied on approximately 650 Planned Parenthood health centers for affordable, high-quality reproductive health services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This means CBO\u2019s claim that taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood assisted 2.6 million customers was a gross overstatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But let\u2019s review the numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/2006-2007-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2006-07 annual report<\/a>, Planned Parenthood boasted seeing \u201c3.1 million women, men, and teens.\u201d And year after year the number of clients it saw decreased. In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/2009-Annual-Affiliate-Service-Census-Report..pdf&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2009<\/a>&nbsp;Planned Parenthood reported seeing 3 million clients. That number dropped to 2.4 million clients and remained steady in the years&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-2016-women-dont-need\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2016<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2017<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/2e\/da\/2eda3f50-82aa-4ddb-acce-c2854c4ea80b\/2018-2019_annual_report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2018<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/89-seconds-planned-parenthood-report-record-abortions\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortions-highest-ever\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2020<\/a>, clients served at Planned Parenthood dwindled further to 2.16 million before decreasing to 2.13 million in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-report-record-high-abortions-drop\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2021<\/a>&nbsp;and 2.05 million reported in its most current&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/record-breaking-planned-parenthood-annual-abortions-400k\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022-23 report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In other words, clients at Planned Parenthood have decreased nearly 15% from the 2.4 million clients it reported in its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015-16 annual report<\/a>&nbsp;to the 2.05 million clients in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/ec\/f4\/ecf43d92-fcd2-4d11-b299-e67b5c3ac394\/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022-23 annual report<\/a>. But since 2006 (when it reported 3.1M clients), Planned Parenthood\u2019s clients have&nbsp;<em>decreased<\/em>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>nearly 34%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2022, Planned Parenthood&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/blog\/can-men-go-to-planned-parenthood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that \u201cmen make up 13% of Planned Parenthood\u2019s patients\u2026\u201d This means it is likely that out of the 2.05 million clients Planned Parenthood recorded in their 2022-23 report, an estimated 1.8 million were women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Comparing FQHC\u2019s to Planned Parenthood, Live Action News found that:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Locations<\/strong>: FQHCs had 15,000 location sites in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/data\/fact-sheets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023<\/a>, up from the 14,000 sites in 2022. In contrast, while Planned Parenthood reported 650 centers in their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015-16 annual report<\/a>&nbsp;there were only 600 Planned Parenthood facilities reported in both 2022 and 2023. Today, FQHCs offer&nbsp;<em><strong>25 times<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;as many location sites as Planned Parenthood.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Clients<\/strong>: FQHCs served 31.2 million patients in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023<\/a>&nbsp;(17.9 million were female) up from the 30.5 million patients&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">served<\/a>&nbsp;in 2022 (17.5 million were female). In contrast, Planned Parenthood clients dropped from 2.4 million in 2014 to 2.05 million in 2023. In contrast, Planned Parenthood recorded 9,419 prenatal care visits in its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/18\/40\/1840b04b-55d3-4c00-959d-11817023ffc8\/20170526_annualreport_p02_singles.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015-16 annual report<\/a>&nbsp;but decreased to 6,316 prenatal services recorded in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/ec\/f4\/ecf43d92-fcd2-4d11-b299-e67b5c3ac394\/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022-23 annual report<\/a>. FQHCs served nearly&nbsp;<em><strong>93 times<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;as many prenatal care patients as Planned Parenthood in 2023.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening<\/strong>: FQHCs tested nearly 4.3 million females for cervical cancer, carried out nearly 1.9 million pap tests, and tested over 1.6 million women with mammograms in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023,<\/a>&nbsp;up from testing 4.08 million females for cervical cancer, carrying out 1.8 million pap tests, and screening 1.7 million patients with mammograms in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022<\/a>. In fact, total cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood have&nbsp;<em><strong>dropped nearly 79%<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;from a high of over 2.1 million in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2005-2006-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2004<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In addition, in the past decade,&nbsp;<strong>contraceptive services at Planned Parenthood have decreased nearly 40%<\/strong>, from 3.7 million recorded in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/files\/7413\/9620\/1089\/AR-FY13_111213_vF_rev3_ISSUU.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2012-2013<\/a>&nbsp;to 2.2 million recorded in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/ec\/f4\/ecf43d92-fcd2-4d11-b299-e67b5c3ac394\/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022-202<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Yet, in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023<\/a>, FQHCs provided nearly 3 million \u201ccontraceptive management\u201d services to clients all over the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>As Taxpayer Dollars Rose, Abortions Skyrocketed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Hyde Amendment is a pro-life rider that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicaid.gov\/medicaid\/finance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prevents<\/a>&nbsp;federal taxpayer dollars from funding most abortions. Ironically, the abortion industry \u2014 which is historically<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/not-just-planned-parenthood-naral-eugenicist-founders\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;saturated in racist eugenics<\/a>&nbsp;by its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ny-escape-racist-margaret-sanger\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">own admissions<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 has pushed the false claim that because Hyde does not allow taxpayer money to fund the abortions of underprivileged women (many of them minority women) for any and every reason, it is \u201cracist.\u201d The truth is the exact opposite. The Hyde Amendment&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayer-funded-abortion-hyde-poor-abortion-industry\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protects poor and minority women<\/a>&nbsp;(and their children) from being pushed toward abortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Despite the abortion lobby\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-always-making-sure-fewer-people-have-children-heres-proof\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claims that<\/a>&nbsp;poor women need the public to pay for their abortions, they know full well that statistics show that when abortion is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-fund-abortion-more-happen\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subsidized<\/a>&nbsp;by taxpayers,&nbsp;<strong><em>abortions increase<\/em><\/strong>. This means the abortion industry stands to gain financially should its friends in Congress succeed in doing away with Hyde. A&nbsp;survey published by Guttmacher in 2017&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/surprise-guttmacher-survey-shows-women-get-taxpayer-funded-abortions-may-abortions\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a>&nbsp;that women who have taxpayer-funded abortions tend to have&nbsp;<em>more<\/em>&nbsp;abortions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Whether federal taxpayer dollars pay directly for an abortion or not, the money is fungible and can fund staff and location sites also used to commit abortions. Perhaps this is why many pro-life advocates find it ironic that as taxpayer funding has increased, abortions at Planned Parenthood have skyrocketed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Abortions rose nearly 20% (19.60%) between 2015 and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/record-breaking-planned-parenthood-annual-abortions-400k\/&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=housefile&amp;utm_campaign=lan&amp;utm_content=daily_digest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">current year<\/a>&nbsp;when the organization committed the highest number of abortions on record.
