Grondelski<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001kvOw_WoTwbG7lITb1whN3_04KwaglgHlgpxGnqabMB2lboLGB9vZqP3tlwzOvNbw_bum0ZIovm1UqYXEgjxf-5S2fl9N08zWyKvTkQjXiFfJbGLSGEtI1-NiJwB7ckXGSUmO571wyRhq3Ykkg0eGuqyTS5ANXzK8amvcv_f7-T0P6xkvZXOwPZ_QBEHTc01nJiItbd-VsJfxt979eSSn1Q9_K5VLJm8FjgSWjTfLLNE309o3LSTbhw==&amp;c=1fcYdE3QlNpgfx0wcT6h3oPOQR9IwOt_8jTyWhfoTbvCevg9ehl90Q==&amp;ch=PQWCGtXQLpy3UoKgUxD09zE-XWpKo5fZl_sC4G4nHuGYT4bRChDl-Q==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from The American Thinker<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ohioans vote Tuesday on Issue 1, a referendum question that would write abortion on demand through birth into the state constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Buckeyes:&nbsp;Don\u2019t&nbsp;let pro-abortion advocates lie to you about the extremes of this amendment.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This amendment legalizes abortion through birth for any reason.&nbsp;&nbsp;No&nbsp;restriction on abortion prior to birth would be constitutional in Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Anybody who claims that is not true is lying.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;The amendment pays lip service to the notion of \u201cviability\u201d \u2014 i.e., the point at which a fetus is capable of surviving outside the womb, generally about 20 weeks (5 months).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But the amendment\u2019s \u201crestriction\u201d is no restriction at all.&nbsp;&nbsp;Why?&nbsp;&nbsp;Three reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The amendment itself carefully&nbsp;does not say&nbsp;when viability occurs.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>It&nbsp;does&nbsp;say that determination is up to the person performing the abortion \u2014 i.e., somebody who has a vested interest in removing that restriction.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>And the amendment&nbsp;says&nbsp;the restriction can be waived in the name of the mother\u2019s \u201chealth\u201d \u2014 but does not define \u201chealth.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;That definition is not self-evident or common sense.&nbsp;&nbsp;We know from nearly fifty years of&nbsp;Roe v. Wade&nbsp;that the Supreme Court stretched \u201chealth\u201d to include emotional and psychological satisfaction.&nbsp;&nbsp;So if you\u2019d be unhappy that you can\u2019t have an abortion when you want it?&nbsp;&nbsp;Your \u201chealth\u201d is endangered.&nbsp;&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;not&nbsp;fantasy.&nbsp;&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;not&nbsp;fiction.&nbsp;&nbsp;That\u2019s almost half a century of precedents.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Do you believe that abortion should be legal for any reason at seven, eight, or nine months of pregnancy?&nbsp;&nbsp;Issue One guarantees abortion at those stages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Do you believe that an abortionist should be able to carry out partial-birth abortions?&nbsp;&nbsp;(A partial birth abortion occurs in the last three months of pregnancy, when the fetus is delivered but for its head, which is then punctured with a surgical scissor.)&nbsp;&nbsp;Federal law bans that procedure.&nbsp;&nbsp;Issue One would put Ohio into conflict with federal law.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Perhaps even more importantly, it would protect that barbarism in Ohio.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Sure, abortionists will say \u201cthere is no such thing as \u2018partial-birth abortion,\u2019\u201d because they don\u2019t like the name of the procedure.&nbsp;&nbsp;They prefer \u201cdilation and evacuation.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;Po-tae-to, po-tah-to.&nbsp;&nbsp;That procedure as a way of delivering \u2014 and delivering the fatal&nbsp;coup de gr\u00e2ce&nbsp;to an unborn child that is generally capable of living outside the womb \u2014 is used and would be protected under Issue One.I keep writing in this article about \u201cabortionists\u201d performing abortions.&nbsp;&nbsp;It\u2019s not just because it\u2019s accurate but because, if Issue One passes, Ohio would not necessarily limit performing abortions to physicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Many pro-abortion states \u2014 California, for example \u2014 allow nurses to perform abortions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Interestingly, California law still requires veterinarians \u2014 animal&nbsp;doctors \u2014&nbsp;to perform abortions on animals.&nbsp;&nbsp;(Apparently, prenatal complications with cows and horses sometimes require them.)&nbsp;&nbsp;But not on human beings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Abortionists will claim that abortion is so \u201csafe\u201d a procedure that there\u2019s no reason to restrict performing abortions to doctors.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you want an invasive procedure permitted by somebody not a doctor?&nbsp;&nbsp;Why is abortion always the only \u201cmedical procedure\u201d abortionists want no regulations of?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Not limited to doctors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Not limited to OB-GYNS.&nbsp;&nbsp;(Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist serving a life term for illegal, late-term abortions and manslaughter during a botched abortion of a Bhutanese refugee woman \u2014 pleaded down from third-degree murder \u2014 was not an OB-GYN.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a general practitioner.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pennsylvania, which had pro-life laws, also had a pro-abortion governor unwilling to enforce them, whose Health Department overlooked Gosnell\u2019s unsanitary conditions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ohio would not even be allowed to have those laws.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Not requiring doctors to be have admitting privileges in a local hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;(Abortionists claim it\u2019s \u201cunnecessary\u201d because, sure, a hospital&nbsp;will&nbsp;take in an emergency patient.&nbsp;&nbsp;But it\u2019s also a dirty little secret that lots of abortionists have no local connections, but often travel to multiple places.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Not requiring normal statistical data and reporting.&nbsp;&nbsp;(One reason there is a lack of clarity about abortion is that some states with large numbers of abortions don\u2019t report them to federal health care data collectors.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you want Ohio in that pool?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">If you are a parent, do you think your consent should be required for your minor daughter to get an abortion?&nbsp;&nbsp;Under Issue One, that would not be true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">If you are a parent, do you think you should be told (notified) if your minor daughter is to get an abortion?&nbsp;&nbsp;Under Issue One, you would have no right to that information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It\u2019s November.&nbsp;&nbsp;School started two months ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;Think back.&nbsp;&nbsp;You probably had to sign a bunch of papers as to what medicines or medical procedures you authorize for your child.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you allow the school nurse to give her an aspirin for a headache?&nbsp;&nbsp;To take her to the hospital if she has a concussion on the soccer field playing against a \u201ctrans-girl\u201d?&nbsp;&nbsp;Yes?&nbsp;&nbsp;Yes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Then why is your consent needed for an aspirin but not an abortion?&nbsp;&nbsp;For a clinic visit for a concussion but not dilation and curettage?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Ask yourself what Issue One really entails.&nbsp;&nbsp;Because, if you do, I\u2019m betting you\u2019re going to vote \u201cno\u201d Tuesday&#8230;and you\u2019re going to share this column with friends to explain why they should vote \u201cno,\u201d too.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:31px\"><strong>In person voting begins tomorrow at 6:30
