Heartbeat Laws Save Lives<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

For immediate release:<\/strong> Today, the Ohio Department of Health released the 2022 abortions statistics<\/a>. Tragically, in 2022, 18,488 women chose or were forced into abortion in Ohio. Abortions in Ohio for 2022 decreased by 15.24% from 2021. While this is substantial and represents a win for life, we still grieve for the thousands who never received a birthday, only a death day. We grieve for the mothers who carry the burden of the loss of life of their sons or daughters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tragically, almost half (48.4%) of the 2022 Ohio abortions were on black babies, when less than 13% of Ohio women are black. Margaret Sanger\u2019s vision<\/a> to target the black population with abortion remains an American horror story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hamilton County, there were 1,816 abortions. In the combined counties of Adams, Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren Counties, making up most of Southwest Ohio, there were 2,642 abortions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Roe was overturned<\/a> on June 24, 2022, Ohio\u2019s Heartbeat Law was enacted through legal motions by Attorney General Dave Yost, making it illegal to terminate pre-born children with a detectable heartbeat. The killing of babies in the womb whose heartbeats were detectable remained illegal until mid-September 2022 when an activist judge issued a pause on the Heartbeat Law,<\/a> claiming the right to abortion is contained in Ohio\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The substantial life-saving decrease in Ohio abortions in 2022 is a testimony to the value of heartbeat laws. They. Save. Lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just this week, the Ohio Supreme Court heard the case<\/a> appealing the lower Court\u2019s decision on the Heartbeat Law. While waiting for the decision from the Court, abortions up to 22 weeks gestation remain legal in the Buckeye State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
