COLUMBUS, OH — The following statement on the ACLU\u2019s submission of signatures to place its anti-parent amendment on the November ballot can be attributed to Protect Women Ohio<\/a> (PWO) press secretary Amy Natoce:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe ACLU\u2019s extreme anti-parent amendment is so unpopular that it couldn\u2019t even rely on grassroots support to collect signatures. The ACLU paid out-of-state signature collectors to lie to Ohioans about its dangerous amendment that will strip parents of their rights, permit minors to undergo sex change operations without their parents\u2019 knowledge or consent, and allow painful abortion on demand through all nine months. The ACLU\u2019s attempts to hijack Ohio\u2019s constitution to further its own radical agenda would be pathetic if they weren\u2019t so dangerous.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This extreme anti-parent amendment is just the latest example of the ACLU\u2019s war on parental rights.\u00a0Background on the ACLU\u2019s war on parents is available\u00a0HERE<\/a>.\u00a0The ACLU has a long and well-documented history of fighting against parental rights, including in\u00a0Alaska<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Indiana<\/a>. The ACLU specifically calls out parental involvement on\u00a0its website<\/a>,\u00a0saying it would restrict \u201cteenagers\u2019 access to abortion.\u201d Heritage Action recently released a\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0video<\/a>\u00a0about the ACLU’s attacks on parental rights in Ohio.\u00a0In recent weeks, the ACLU has\u00a0denounced parental notification<\/a>\u00a0requirements in schools, and the ACLU of Ohio’s chief lobbyist\u00a0confirmed<\/a>\u00a0that stance on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACLU\u2019s attacks on parents have now landed in Ohio. In May, a paid signature collector in Fremont, OH admitted<\/a> to State Rep. Gary Click that the amendment will wipe out Ohio\u2019s parental notification and consent requirements, allowing minors to obtain abortions without their parents\u2019 knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
